1. Introduction
Clint (“we”, “our” or “us”) operates an online service that helps you identify and analyze subscription and finance-related data from your Google account. This Privacy Notice explains the types of information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data.
Clint currently supports two optional data sources:
Gmail, for identifying subscription and finance-related emails, and
Google Drive, for identifying subscription and finance-related documents located in folders explicitly selected by the user.
Disclosure
Clint’s use and transfer of information received from Google Accounts complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information when you use Clint:
Account Data
When you sign up using your Google account, we collect your name and email address to create and manage your Clint profile. We do not request postal addresses or phone numbers.
Gmail Data (Optional)
Upon your explicit authorization, Clint requests read-only access to your Gmail messages. This access is used solely to locate subscription and finance-related emails (such as bills or invoices) and extract relevant information.
We do not alter, delete, or send emails.
Clint connects only to Gmail and does not access other email providers.
We retrieve only messages reasonably believed to contain subscription or finance-related information.
If unrelated emails are inadvertently fetched, you may remove them and we will refine our filters.
Attachments are processed only when they are part of relevant subscription or finance-related emails and only for the purpose of delivering the service.
Google Drive Data (Optional)
As an alternative to Gmail, users may choose to connect Google Drive with read-only access.
Clint accesses only the Google account explicitly authorized by the user.
We do not modify or delete any Drive files.
Files or folders the user does not have permission to access are never listed or processed.
Access is strictly limited by Google OAuth consent, Drive scopes, and Drive access control lists (ACLs).
Folder Selection & Metadata
During the “Select folder” flow, Clint retrieves only basic folder metadata required to display structure and hierarchy, such as:
folder ID
folder name
parent relationships
No file contents are downloaded unless and until the user explicitly selects a folder to sync.
File Processing
When a user selects a folder:
Sync is triggered only for that folder and its subfolders.
Files are downloaded solely for processing and analysis.
The original files in Google Drive are never modified.
Usage Data and Cookies
We collect standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps to operate, secure, and improve Clint.
Clint uses cookies (including session, preference, and security cookies) to function properly and remember user settings. You may disable cookies via your browser settings, though doing so may limit functionality.
3. How We Use Your Information
Clint uses collected information to:
Identify, categorize, and analyze subscription and finance-related emails or documents.
Generate summaries, insights, and dashboards tailored to your usage.
Maintain, operate, and improve the service; monitor performance; and resolve issues.
Communicate with you regarding updates, support requests, and service-related notices.
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We never sell or rent your personal data.
We do not use Gmail or Google Drive data to build or train generalized AI or machine-learning models.
4. How We Access, Store and Share Gmail Data
Access
Gmail and Google Drive access is read-only.
Clint cannot write, delete, or modify emails or files.
Data access is limited to the minimum scopes required for functionality.
Storage
Extracted data and processed files are stored on secure, encrypted servers.
We use reputable cloud providers and follow industry best practices, including encryption in transit and at rest.
For Google Drive, we store only the minimum metadata required (e.g., file ID, processing status).
Sharing
By default, Clint does not share Gmail or Google Drive data with third parties, except:
Trusted service providers required for core operations (e.g., secure cloud hosting),
When required by law or valid legal request, or
When you explicitly choose to export or share data.
If you do not choose to share data, no data is disclosed.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your data only while your Clint account remains active.
You may close your Clint account at any time through your profile page. Upon closure:
All data stored by Clint, including Gmail- and Drive-sourced data, is permanently deleted.
Deletion is irreversible.
This does not affect emails or files stored in your Gmail or Google Drive accounts.
6. Revocation & Disconnect
You may revoke Gmail or Google Drive access at any time through your Google account settings or within Clint.
Upon revocation:
The associated refresh token is revoked at Google.
The connection is marked inactive.
All sync and processing operations stop.
Access tokens are removed from active use.
7. Transfer of Data
Your data may be processed on servers outside of your jurisdiction. By using Clint, you consent to such transfer, provided that adequate safeguards are in place.
8. Legal Requirements & Disclosure
We may disclose information if required to comply with legal obligations, protect our rights, prevent fraud or abuse, or respond to lawful governmental requests.
9. Security
We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data, including encryption at rest and in transit. While we strive to use commercially acceptable security measures, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
10. Changes to This Notice
We may update this Privacy Notice to reflect changes in our practices or regulatory requirements. Material changes will be published on this page and communicated via email or in-app notification before becoming effective.
